Live here in Northern California, haven't seen or heard from Ronnie Montrose in awhile. He usually plays here locally a couple times a year. Last show I saw was in Nov 07 in Dublin Calif. It was a donation show of sorts for SHEPARDS GATE a bay area homeless helper. Great show played town without pity and all the MONTROSE greats. Had a different look! Hippie from the 60's,long beard old style cap and pink shades........anyway also wondering how he's doing...............Hap

I worked with Ronnie on my album Anti-M "Positively Negative" in 1994. He was a real pro in those sessions. Have stayed in touch since then, even built a web site for his music anti-m.com/montrose. Keep Rockin'

How I met Ronnie Montrose

How I met Ronnie Montrose:
My girl and I went to see Montrose when he first got his band together. This was in around 1975 They were playing a small club in Atlanta and my girl and I were big fans of Ronnie after seeing him several times with Edgar Winter. When we saw that he was coming to Atlanta we went down to the club about 4 o'clock in the afternoon so as to be the first in the door. About 4:30 Ronnie and his band came swinging into the parking lot in a beat up station wagon. My girl (now my wife) was a stunner. Tall, long blond hair and beautiful. (angel wussy) When they were walking into the club to set up their equiptment I said "Ronnie" !! He stopped and sat down with us (I'm sure my girl had a lot to do with that !). He was a good guy. Said wait here and I'll bring you in in a few minutes so we did and he called us in. Their equiptment was set up and we sat at a table in front and he played some riffs for us then came and sat with us and smoked some cigarettes with us. Like I said Pat was beautiful. Sammy Hagar got up in stage and played some riffs trying to impress Pat but she never looked at him so he slinked off. Later that night Ronnie put on an incredible show ! He called us later that night at my apartment and we talked for a couple of hours. He's just a good guy ! From then on when he came to town he would come over to our apartment and later house and Pat would cook dinner for us and just spend a pleasant evening with a GOD (in my mind). He brought his black Les Paul (the one on the Warner Bros. Presents album ) and he and I jammed for an hour or two. Me knowing about two notes and he blazing off a zillion. Was an amazing evening. We never became best buddies but had he been local we probably would have been good friends. We were then but he lives in L.A. and we in Atlanta so we didn't communicate for many years but recently I've reached out and touched him with some emails and he remembers us from back then but has not pursued a regular email thing and I'm not gonna bug him. (you don't tug on Supermans cape ). But he was and still is just a good guy who I'm sure has a lot of good friends.
